Our first real stop in Asia was in the city of Kathmandu, Nepal. We had to come here to meet with our guide for our hike along the Annapurna Circuit as well as spend some time visiting.

There are so many ways to describe Kathmandu. The one word that pops in my head when I think of it is “chaotic” since it encapsulates all of the positive and negative aspects of the city at the same time. Through cynical, western eyes one could see Kathmandu as noisy and dirty. From a more romantic point of view it can better be described as vibrant, colorful,  energetic, historic, and a lot of fun. This depends on your mood at any given time. Most of Nepal shows the influences of Hinduism and Buddhism and this is very true of Kathmandu.
