Matt & Rej had their Belvedere Wedding in Wakefield Quebec in October. It’s times like these that I wish I was a better writer. Maybe I should just be happy with my photographic skills but every so often one wants to describe something perfectly in words.
As with most of my clients, our initial meeting the year before was about as good as it can get. It was obvious that we have a similar way of thinking about family and friends and they very much enjoyed my photography. Both Matt and Rej are very smart and funny so I knew that this was one wedding to really look forward to. All was not perfect before the wedding though, and unfortunately a family tragedy occurred just weeks before the wedding. This was not the first time that I have seen this happen and we all knew that it was going to be an emotional day.
Finally the big day started and Jessica climbed aboard the rollercoaster ride that would be Matt & Rej’s wedding. We started at their home just west of downtown and had our first intro to their massive wedding party. As we would learn over the course of the day, these people ended up being some of the funniest people I have met. This was the first time that I have heard a best man get up and recite a 5 minute song that he wrote, from memory with the best delivery I can imagine. Welcome to my top 3 wedding moments of all time!
After the getting ready, we drove up toward Wakefield and managed to do a lot of couple photos along the way. Once at Le Belvedere everything started to come together. I was excited to see Keith Langille‘s friendly face when he arrived and then I was reminded that Rob D’Urbano and Sway were the band for the night! Once all the pieces were in place, it was kind of obvious where this was going.
As soon as the ceremony started, that’s when it felt like being on a rollercoaster. The one thing about a lot of emotion that is interesting is how easily it can swing in any direction. From the start of the ceremony to the end of the reception, there was a constant swing from hysterical laugher (remember the singing best man) to tears. The other great thing about emotion is that you really feel what is happening instead of just watching it from the outside. I have to admit that I had a sore stomach the following day.
So to sum up, Matt & Reg, their families and friends, Jessica and Le Belvedere, Keith Langille, Sway, the steak for dinner…. All awesome. Let’s do it again!
